FAQ
Questions people actually ask
If yours is not here, email us and we will answer it — and probably add it.
The basics
Is it really free?
Yes. Every tracking, insight and reduction feature is free. There are no ads, no paywall on your own data, and no subscription required to use anything described on this site.
Do I have to create an account?
No. You can use the whole app as a guest and your data stays on your device. If you later create an account, everything you have already logged carries over — you do not start again. An account is only needed to back up your history and sync between devices.
Do I have to quit completely?
No. You choose the goal: reduce gradually, reduce faster, stop completely, or just track to understand your habits. You can change it at any time, and changing your mind is not treated as a failure anywhere in the app.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, completely. Every log is written to your device first and queued for sync. Logging never waits for the network, so a basement, a plane or a dead zone makes no difference.
How it works
What if I forget to log a puff?
Log it whenever you remember and back-date it — the app moves it to the right day and hour automatically. An approximate record is far more useful than a perfect record you gave up on.
What happens if I go over my goal?
Nothing punitive. The ring shifts to a neutral amber and the caption points at tomorrow. There is no red, no alert, and no notification about it. Going over is data about a hard day, not a verdict on you.
How is "money saved" calculated?
It compares what your stated baseline would have cost over the same period against what you actually logged, using your device cost and puffs per device. Both of those are editable on the Money screen, and the figure is clearly labelled as an estimate.
Are the health milestones accurate for me?
They are general figures drawn from published cessation research, describing what typically happens as nicotine exposure falls. They are educational, not a prediction about your body. Individual results vary a great deal.
Privacy and data
Who can see my logs?
Only you. Your tracking data is never shared, sold, or used for advertising. Community posts are the one exception and are entirely opt-in — they are pseudonymous, and your real name and email are never shown.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, whenever you want, from Settings. Export as JSON for a complete machine-readable copy, or CSV to open in any spreadsheet. No request form and no waiting period.
How do I delete my account?
From Settings in the app, or from the delete account page on this site. There is a 14 day grace period during which you can cancel by signing in again, after which everything is permanently erased.
Do you use analytics or tracking SDKs?
There are no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app. Optional anonymous usage statistics can be enabled in Settings to help us find bugs; they never include your logs, notes or journal entries.
Getting help
Is this a substitute for medical support?
No. It is a self-tracking tool, not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice. Nicotine replacement therapy and behavioural support from a professional roughly double quit rates — if you can access those, they are worth far more than any app.
Can under-18s use it?
No. The app is intended only for adults who already use nicotine. It is not designed for, and should not be used by, anyone under 18 or anyone who does not already vape.
Something is broken. Where do I report it?
Email support@quitvapingslowly.app with what happened and what you expected. If you have a request id from an error message, include it — it points straight at the relevant log line.
Still stuck?
Email support@quitvapingslowly.app or visit support.
